Helium Leak Testing of Tube Connections

Industrial use of helium leak testing is steadily growing as it competes with water immersion and pressure decay testing methods.

Industrial use of helium leak testing is steadily growing as it competes with water immersion and pressure decay testing methods. This growth is because it brings with it the major advantages of detection of even the slightest leaks, and test pieces do not need to be dried after testing. Helium systems can be easily automated, and so they are now commonly used in many production lines. WEH has specialized in developing customized solutions for helium leak testing which reduce connection times and as a result, simplify workflows and increase productivity.

Widely used in the automotive industry, the WEH® TW800, TW02 and TW01 Connectors for helium leak testing have proved to be particularly effective for testing fuelling lines, exhaust systems, brake systems, fuel tanks, injection nozzles, cylinder blocks and cylinder heads. WEH® TW141, TW230 and TW241 Connectors have also found extensive use outside the automotive industry in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and for testing heat exchangers, tubing systems, air conditioners and heating systems.

WEH´s product range includes test connectors for the most diverse connection configurations - for sealing on the internal and external diameters of tubes and bores as well as a large variety of other tube connection profiles such as beads, collars, rims or banjo tube connections. Many connectors feature a pneumatic actuation, ideally suited for automated applications. All connectors are equipped with the patented WEH® jaw locking mechanism which ensures pressure-tight connections in seconds whilst reducing connection times and cutting costs considerably.
